Why in the world do I grind my teeth and what is causing me to do this? That is a great question and extremely difficult to pinpoint the answer. Millions of people are afflicted with teeth grinding officially called bruxism.


For many, teeth grinding is a conscious decision acted out during the day, but teeth grinding presents an equal problem at night time - while you sleep.


High level teeth grinding will:

  • Damage enamel
  • Damage natural teeth, restorations, crowns or jaw
  • Cause headaches
  • Produce pain
  • Results in disorders in the temporomandibular joints (TMJs)

Noise from night time grinding can also disrupt your spouse's sleep.

During regular dental exams, Dr. Persky will check for signs of teeth grinding and determine whether treatment is needed.
