The bad news is you have just been informed that you don’t have the necessary bone structure in your jaw to support your much needed dental procedure! However, the good news quickly follows. Recreating bone called bone grafting is a routine, predictable and painless procedure.

Bone loss rapidly occurs as a result of missing teeth, or evidence of severe gum disease and continues to lessen as it is reabsorbed into the body. This bone loss continued, and accelerated with time.

A bone graft consists of human, bovine or synthetic bone tissue that is placed in the area needing native bone. The bone graft builds up the existing jaw bone and stimulates growth of new bone, allowing for you to receive your procedure.

In the case you are asked to consider some form of “grafting”. Dr. Persky will discuss with you details of this procedures along with recommends.

No need to worry. All of these procedures are performed very comfortably in an outpatient setting with either local anesthesia or intravenous sedation. You will be comfortable and confident.
